Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems

What is ADAS?

What is Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS)?

Advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) are computer systems and sensors in most modern vehicles that are designed to help the driver of the vehicle while driving and parking. Most road accidents happen due to human error. ADAS assist with road safety for both drivers, pedestrians, and other vehicles on the road. Shown below are some, but not limited to, components that contribute to ADAS.
Adaptive Cruise Control Icon

Adaptive Cruise Control

Allows your car to automatically speed up and slow down to keep a set distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. Provides some braking.

Adaptive Headlights Icon

Adaptive Headlights

Headlights move side to side as your steering wheel turns.

ADAS Camera Sensor Icon

ADAS Cameras

ADAS cameras assist with a lot of the major functions of vehicle automation such as backup cameras and sideview cameras.

Automatic Parking Assistance Icon

Automatic Parking

Automatically steers your vehicle into a parking spot.

Blind Spot Monitoring Icon

Blind Spot Monitoring

Warning you, the driver using a symbol, sound, or vibration to let them know there are vehicles located in their blind spot.

Coffee Cup Icon

Drowsiness Detection

Your vehicle will alert you to take a break from driving, should your sensors detect unsteady driving. It will not steer your vehicle.

Forward Collision Sensor Icon

Forward Collision Warning

This warning will alert you of an impending forward collision, allowing you to brake or swerve in time.

Intersection Assistance Icon

Intersection Assistance

ADAS help monitor cross traffic in an intersection or road junction. Should there be a potential collision, your vehicle will alert you to start braking or automatically engage brakes.

Lane Departure Warning Icon

Lane Departure Warning

When the painted road lines are clear and bright on both sides of the vehicle, this alert warns you if you're drifting out of your lane.

Moon Icon

Night Vision

Using thermal imaging and infrared detection, your vehicle can detect collisions or objects to alert you to brake or will automatically brake.

Pedestrian Alert Icon

Pedestrian Protection

If there is a pedestrian in the path of the vehicle between a certain speed range, your vehicle will alert you or even brake.

Traffic Sign Detection

Traffic Sign Recognition

ADAS technology that allows your vehicle to recognize traffic sigs such as speed limit, children, or turn ahead.
